The name Treasure Island is enough to send tourists flocking to our tiny coastal community. They may not see pirates on every corner or strike it rich digging for buried treasure, but they won’t leave disappointed. Tourists likely find inhaling a deep breath of our salty sea air very invigorating indeed. It just does something to a body, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it does something to our windows too. In fact, it may eventually cause window replacement to hit the top of the home maintenance list.

Seaspray occurs year-round. The salt contained in the ocean water that’s picked up by the wind doesn’t dissolve. Instead, its carried along until it finally settles on any and all surfaces.

This includes your windows.

The minute particles build up and over time they cause the paint on your windows to slowly chip off. That’s not the only problem here though. Salt drys out the natural moisture of wood. Once the wood is exposed encasing your windows, it affects the expansion and contraction process. This causes the wood to corrode quicker. If your windows are aluminum instead of wood, it eventually causes pitting to occur.

It’s recommended that you wash the exterior of your home three or four times a year to clean off the salt build-up. However, that’s sometimes easier said than done, isn’t it? Life is a busy thing and those weekends tend to pass in the blink of an eye.

Before we know it, our windows can show signs of damage.

Damage isn’t the only reason

Homeowners don’t always wait for signs of damage to tackle the cost of window replacement. Living on the coast also means we run the risk of experiencing a hurricane. Installing impact windows for added protection is reason enough for many to add window replacement to the list of things to do.

Impact windows strengthen the structural integrity of your home. Once the windows go during a hurricane, your family and your home are in danger of experiencing catastrophic consequences. The storm comes in wreaking havoc in every possible way. In its frenzy to escape again, winds rush upward and when they reach the attic the push against everything seeking a way out. This causes pressure to build and when coupled with the force of the storm battering your home on the outside, it may rip your roof from your home.

Since we’re on the subject

Replacing the windows in your home with impact windows offers other benefits as well.

  • They afford your family added protection against would-be intruders.
  • Impact windows are notably energy efficient.
  • UV protection means no more problems with sun fade.
  • Noise reduction allows you to relax without distraction from what’s going on outside.
  • Lower insurance premiums may apply.

The strength factor

At Reece, all of our windows are impact resistant. Built using quality materials, we always incorporate the newest technology in the industry. We manufacture them using tempered glass and high-tech polymer. We sandwich the sheet of polymer between the tempered glass and the result is amazing. The polymer sheet allows you a crystal clear view from a window that’s shatter-proof!

That’s right. Even if your window cracks to pieces, it’s not going to fly apart.

Our windows meet compliance standards set by the FBC (Florida Building Code) to earn a hurricane resistant rating. Debris resistance testing includes both the large and small missile tests. These tests involve a cannon, a 6 foot long 2×4 weighing 9 pounds, and steel ball bearings. Tests likened to the wind and rain produced by a hurricane come next.

While we’re speaking of ratings, our windows are Energy Star products as well.

Is Reece for you?

We understand the value of excellent customer service. In fact, Michael Reece, Sr. established Reece Builders / Windows, Inc. in 1972 with one goal in mind. To building and installing high-quality replacement windows and doors meant to last a lifetime. All the while keeping the customer’s complete satisfaction as his main goal.

His son, Randy, grew up in the business and runs things now. He saw the value of his father’s business plan and stuck with it. In addition to treating customers with the utmost appreciation, his dad taught him the importance of appreciating the employees as well.

Our employees, from customer service to installation, are in-house. We train them to carry out their jobs with perfection. That includes a smile. But, we don’t make them do that. It just happens. Because, here at Reece, we strive to make them feel as if they’re a part of the Reece family.

Employees that vest themselves in their jobs are always willing to go the extra mile. They’re happy and it shows. Our customers benefit from the ripple effect it creates. The respectful and courteous attitudes that our employees exhibit makes an impression. They can’t help to share the gem they’ve discovered with family and friends.

In turn, their family and friends consider choosing Reece when they’re in need of new windows and doors.

As far as we’re concerned, word of mouth is the best form of advertising!

FAQ’s

Will your windows save me money on insurance premiums?

Check with your insurance agent because there’s a good chance the answer is yes.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes, we do. Our windows are guaranteed to last a lifetime. In addition, we provide our customer’s with a guarantee of workmanship.

Can I leave you a key under the flower pot?

No. We require an adult to be at home during the window replacement process. We need to be inside your home so we think it’s best that you are too.

What do I need to do before you arrive?

It will be great if you remove any furniture from the work areas. Also, if you could remove any window alarm sensors, the window treatment, and wall decor (incase it should shake off due to vibrations) that will help out a lot.
