Lakeland is located midway between Tampa and Orlando. That said, we might just be situated in the best place in the entire state of Florida if day tripping is your thing. At just over 100,000 residents, we’ve got a small-town atmosphere but we’re large enough to accommodate several malls for shopping convenience. We’ve also got parks, hiking trails, hot air balloon rides, museums—in short, it’s a great place to raise a family. If you’re a Lakeland homeowner, you made an excellent choice! However, if you purchased an older home, window replacement might need to be something to consider.
Homes built before the current Florida Building Codes went into effect in 2002 didn’t focus on hurricane protection at all. Building codes were more about accommodating growth rather than homeowner protection. That changed after Andrew ravaged the state in 1992.
There have been a few revisions since, but it was during the initial push for change that Miami-Dade officials put out the call for window manufacturers to figure out a way to make windows hurricane resistant.
Manufacturers stepped up to the challenge and it wasn’t long before they hit on the solution.
Windows and doors that don’t blow out during a hurricane greatly increase your family’s amount of protection. Or, if you evacuated, having impact windows and doors in place makes it far more likely that you’ll have a home to return to afterward.
Reece believes in the added protection that impact windows provide wholeheartedly. In fact, impact windows are all we make.
We use tempered glass rather than ordinary glass. Tempered glass crumbles into thousands of small rounded pellets rather than fracturing into shards. That alone makes them safer, however, when the pellets are used as ammunition by the storm, the risk of injury and damage still exists.
Our windows take care of that problem too.
We sandwich a sheet of high-tech polymer between the panels of glass making our windows virtually indestructible. Even if the glass breaks, your window remains intact! The polymer absorbs impact and it also prevents the glass from flying to pieces.
Our vinyl frames play a part in hurricane resistance as well. We heat weld the frames together. This process actually melds the vinyl pieces into one making our frame resistant to the force of the storm.
Reece windows consistently pass the FBC’s stringent test requirements with flying colors—not glass.
The polymer sheeting works perfectly to withstand storm-tossed debris. It will hold up against would-be intruders as well. This greatly reduces your risk of ever experiencing a break-in. Thieves won’t stick around long when they realize their easiest point of entry isn’t budging.
Moreover, Reece windows meet or exceed EnergyStar requirements. The polymer plays a part in the energy efficiency of our windows. Coupled with our expert design, our impact windows block the transfer of heat and cold making your home more comfortable while saving you money on utility costs.
In fact, homeowners report seeing as much as a 30% reduction in energy costs after installing impact windows.
Lastly, the polymer sandwiched between the window panes keeps outside noise from finding its way into your home. You’ll enjoy relaxing without the outside distraction of construction, kids playing, or lawnmowers droning.
Many homeowners fail to realize the value of this feature until after their window replacement is completed. We become desensitized to sounds over time but when they suddenly disappear, you’ll notice the difference!

Yes. We require an adult family member to be on-site during the installation process.
Is Reece certified?
Usually, contractors that work with window companies are trained by the specific company to install their windows, thereby, earning certification. We build and install your windows ourselves. You can rest assured all of our installers are trained to meet our high standards.
What do I do before you arrive?
Thanks for asking! It will be great if you have a clear path for us to get to each work area of your window replacement. Push all the furniture to the side, remove window treatments and alarm sensors, and you ought to take down any wall decor in danger of vibrating off the wall.
We’ll see you soon!
